Fairbanks Farm Access

We help Alaskan farmers feed Alaskans.

Land Access

We work with small and historically marginalized farmers to find farmland of their own.

Our goal: access for all.

Current Work:

  • We are providing research and analysis on current Alaska legislation SB 161 and HB 317 regarding farm tax incentives, and whether they help or hurt Alaskan farmers.

  • Also, read our Director’s article in Modern Farmer on farmland access in Alaska.

Advocacy

We advocate for and help organize small farmers at the local, state, and federal level.

Our goal: be heard by lawmakers.

Current Work:

  • We are working with the Fairbanks Soil and Water Conservation District and the University of Alaska, Fairbanks to prepare an Interior Farm Forum in 2025.

  • Along with local Interior farmers, we led the charge on getting Proposition 2 passed. Now, food farm buildings in the Fairbanks North Star Borough are totally exempt from taxes. Reach out to find out how your farm can benefit!

Connecting Buyers to Farmers

We help institutions, grocers, and individuals buy from local farms.

Our goal: empower our community to grow, buy, and sell more of its own food.

Current Work:

  • Through a grant from Mazon, we have been asked by the Alaska Farmers Market Association to work with the state of Alaska to develop a system that allows WIC beneficiaries - low-income women and children - to spend their WIC benefits at farmers markets.
